Cresta Sprayview - Hotel of the Month

Arriving in Victoria Falls after a long drive from Bulawayo left me eagerly anticipating putting my head down for the night. I had booked myself a room at the newly renovated Cresta Sprayview Hotel (the first hotel on your left hand side as you drive into the Falls from the Airport/Bulawayo road). Having stayed at the hotel many years ago when it was under different management, I was keen to see exactly what the Cresta Group meant when they said they had renovated it.

I was met by lovely staff members at the front desk - their smiles could not have been bigger!

My check-in was seemless. Aside from the swish and modern new reception area, the first thing I noticed was the use of key cards to access your room - a welcome change! I was shown to my room and was instantly blown away by the changes that I saw. The entire room has been modernised, with new fixtures and fittings, as well as a flat screen TV.

All the rooms have air-conditioning (essential in Victoria Falls summers!) and are very well equipped, with multi-plug and USB charging points, a secure combination safe for valuables, a well stocked tea and coffee tray, mosquito repellent and body lotions, as well as a hair dryer to name a few. Other modern amenities include Wi-Fi in public areas, satellite television, room service, conference facilities, and a business centre. In the complimentary 'Cresta Calling' magazine, an interview with the General Manager of the hotel is featured. Roddy Meiring confesses that he 'loves to interact with guests from all over the world', and wants to assure that any visitor's stay at the Cresta Sprayview will be 'beyond their expectations'.

The swimming pool is a great place to unwind, and a perfect setting for Alfresco dining.

There are 2 bars to chose from, both of which have been fully renovated and are looking to be in great shape. The 'residents only' Railway Bar is perfect for those wanting a relaxing drink after a long day exploring Victoria Falls.

I have had many experiences of the word 'renovation' being used loosely when a property is given a lick of paint, and I was hoping this was not another one of those cases... The 'old' Sprayview was tired and needed a complete overhaul - I am happy to report that this renovation is the real thing. It seems as if the entire place has been gutted and refitted with all the trappings of modernity! We definitely recommend a stay at the Cresta Sprayview Hotel in Victoria Falls!
